Fitting a system filter is a great way to clean your system whilst its running, even if your system is working fine it's a great way to stop sludge from building up & causing problems in the future. see below for more info.

System Filter to remove sludge!

Magnetic system filter

A system filter once fitted will help reduce system sludge in the radiator water, potentially reduce breakdowns & improve efficiency.

Whilst attending breakdowns, heating repairs, and routine boiler service work I often find sludge in the radiator water, The sludge can cause problems with pumps, valves as well as cold spots on radiators & combi boilers are especially sensitive to sludge due to their many small waterways/heat exchangers.

So if you haven't already got one I would recommend considering a system filter, they can normally be tucked away in an airing cupboard or above/below the boiler & would be emptied as part of your yearly service (you'll be surprised how much sludge comes out of some systems!)
